The second-hand marketplace Users Voice Frustration Regarding Sizing Modifications
Members of the platform have expressed outrage following a change that caused listings displaying inaccurate size information.
The popular resale platform has updated its sizing categories for female and kids' apparel failing to inform all shoppers about the modification.
Online Platforms Backlash
Countless users and merchants are posting online saying Vinted listings now show a modified sizing category than originally posted due to the recalibration.
The platform stated the revised method more closely matches similar services.
It has advised users to check their listings and update the measurements by hand when needed, causing user dissatisfaction.
Sizing System Updates
Earlier, the sizes had both a single numeric size and a letter, for instance S/8 or M/10.
The new system has an alphabetical indicator and numerical range for example S/UK 8-10.
In some cases, the size labels have been reassigned - like an L measurement used to be a 12 but now shows as UK 16-18.
User Accounts
One content creator, who creates plus-size fashion videos, said the change "makes both selling and buying harder".
"Rarely do manufacturers list XL as sizes 20-22," which is what Vinted now does.
Stephanie Gallen, from Glasgow, explained products she uploaded featuring size 14 markings were appearing on the platform as size 20–22.
"If buyers measuring 20-22 acquire them they may become frustrated," she said.
Required Changes
A different user, located in England, explained she became annoyed due to the update requiring manual adjustment the sizes on "every single listing".
"This situation is especially annoying, since I have chronic health issues and platform income has been essential for me since losing part of my income," she said.
Marketplace Information
The app has more than 100 million members, including 18 million in the UK.
It has proved a popular alternative to second-hand platforms like eBay and Depop.
This is not the initial instance that an unexpected update to the app has proved unpopular: last year, Vinted reversed a change concerning shipment methods due to shopper criticism.
